Why is that some of you wont spray it on ur watermelons?

It burned mine early this year. I haven't figured out how strong is too strong so I use other stuff.

Ok I see. I have used it with no problems, but i use it have strength. If that helps. Really didnt know bout the earth worms. Good to know/

The directions for using Sevin lists a caution of unfavorable conditions for using Sevin on plants. If I remember correctly, Sevin should not be used when plants are wet or during periods of high humidity. In our area, Sevin is also not recommended because of spider mites. Sevin kills off the spider mite predators enabling spider mites to grow out of control. The spider mites will then do more damage than the initial insects were doing and they are expensive to control with miticides.

Asana is the most recommended insecticide in this area for squash bugs. Mustang Max is another recommended one for squash bugs. If you plan ahead and plant a sacrifice row of plants that bugs prefer over watermelons, you can spray and kill most of the bugs on your sacrifice plants. That way your watermelon plants can be sprayed less frequently and there are fewer chemicals added to the watermelons. Some gardeners like to plant Hubbard squash for bugs but here the bugs seem to like crook neck and straight neck squash best as the sacrifice crop.

Thank you Mr. Bright. I really dont spray insecticides very often, because i really dont see to many on the plant. Yes, i know it only takes one. But i try not to, if i dont have to. Thanks to all that have replied, you have been a big help.
