None, all done for the year. My biggest is in a basement waiting for a weight in. Been very nice not worring about the weather and have had plenty of time to start cleaning up and preparing for 2011. Plus deer season came in Sat. so my spare time is spent up a tree!

All six of mine are still in the patch. I keep fertilizing them and nature has been good at watering them. The plants are good and fruit look really good.

No real idea of the size, but I would say pretty good for Minnesota.

Two cantaloupe melons that will picked on Fri to go to KY. And finally my wife gets the dining room back as the last, not so real, melon will travel with them. :) Its a Holloway special!!!

i still have 1 going not much though. growing slowly. melon is about 50 lbs. guess you cant expect much the plant is 185 days old.

We are all over the charts for what our summers look like in Minnesota. One year we had killing frost on the first and last day of summer. One year it was so dry you had to water daily. One year it was so wet we got 14" of rain in one day. We have nothing here on the edge of the great plains that moderates our weather. It just keeps rolling in. Hail is common. So are tornadoes. We had warnings last night because it was 80 degrees on the south border, and 40 degrees north of the twin cities. Lots of temperature differentials.

That's why I like to plant varied things in the garden, but its bound to be a good year to grow something. This year with the heat it was watermelons, peppers, and okra. Last year with the cold it was root crops and anything in the cabbage family. Dry years it's tomatoes and onions.

Minnesota is a lush wonderful state, but it has it's moments.

We only grew 2 melons this year. One is approuching 200# & the other is @ 150. Neither plant was grown under a greenhouse, but we did finally cover it up last week with remay & will keep it covered until the weekend of Port Elgin. Good luck all.

James I was asking -because i was considering checking out ,your state for a new home site-its either MS- or Montana- just not sure yet -I`ll be working for a hunting guide outfit and those are my two choices -but I`m checking out both state before I make my dission-thanks for replying to my post-not to crazy about tornados ,but I hear the fishings great

Rob, This has been a strange year. I have lived here 27 years and have never seen one or even been close to one. I wouldn't worry. As for hunting, we have great white tail deer, canadian goose, turkey, pheasant, etc. As for fishing, you have to find at least one lake that works for you.

I took up my plants a couple of weeks ago. I had an assistant help me, and he spotted a melon I didn't know I had. About the size of a grapefruit, end rotted of course. X(

Once I stopped watering the plant deteriorated very rapidly, leading me to think the soil in that spot had good drainage. The ones that hadn't rotted at the blossom end by the time I quit watering started to rot at the stem end after I quit. Maybe the #183's just don't like my soil for some reason.

Hope to engage in a more serious effort next year. I didn't really have the best setup this time.
