A GPC site for watermelons is being added that should help GWG members from the lower middle U.S. The Old Washington Farmers Market is working through the process with Don Young and a press release will be made as plans are more complete. The site is six miles north of Hope, Arkansas. This weighoff will be on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. It is located six miles north of Exit 30 on I-30 and four miles from the Hope Municipal Airport. Hopefully, this posting will help participating gardeners who might otherwise miss the GWG membership application deadline. The event will be open to all gardeners but there is an obvious prize advantage to GWG members.

GPC rules state that GPC weighoffs are open to all!!! and this one is only 4 miles from the airport, so I guess anyone could fly in for the weighoff!!!! Peace, Wayne

The drive from Georgia would not be bad. Get on I-20W in Georgia then turn north at Shreveport. It is all interstate to Hope except from Shreveport on Hwy 71 to the Arkansas line. I can help with ground transportation of watermelons for anyone flying if called in advance.
