I need to get some stuff from there. I can't get in touch with them via telephone. What stuff do I need for giant watermelons...CO2, Mycos, you tell me. Any help appreciated. Thanks,

John, I personally think the CO2 is crap. There is more CO2 in the atmosphere now than there has ever been. I just don't think lack of CO2 is a limiting growth factor. Mycos works great but lots of times it is naturally present in the soil. I think the kelp and fish ferts are wonderful and the powdered form is certainly the most economical. By the way you can get a 25 pound bag of powdered soluble kelp powder from North American Kelp for $193 delivered which is a good savings off the $258 delivered from Holland's Giants.Holland's Giants has a soluble fish powder which sounds superior and costs $86 delivered for 10 pounds.

C02 is proven to make plants grow faster, but I think the plants have to be grown in a greenhouse with a level of C02 that is steadily higher then normal to see the effects. But some studies I have seen show a lower concentration of nutrients in plants grown in greenhouses with high levels of C02 gas. So these effects may cancel each other out. It is hard to find a article that is unbiased when dealing with CO2. I looked up all this for an extra credit project last year in my high school biology class, looking at both sides of the climate change issue in agriculture. Plus I want to become a research meteorologist. It is so complicated no one knows for certain if higher CO2 levels benefit plants.

Tennessee dreamer, although your personal opinion is appreciated, CO2 has a proven track record, and if I am not mistaken, in our customer testimonials a watermelon grower raves about it and a guy I know that grew a 291 lb fruit is using it this season.

I will start with "I do not know", but since that has never stopped me from speaking out. As scientists, we rather suck with our experiments. We vary too many parameters at once. Getting a testimonial just because one of the things changed is to add more CO2 just doesn't prove too much. Of course what can you say if Chris using CO2 doesn't break the world record again this year? Does that mean it had a positive or a negative influence?

And even if you attempted to hold all parameters the same, you have weather patterns, and soil composition to deal with. It's difficult to be a watermelon grower and follow a scientific method.

I have some of the CO2 foliar spray and the stuff leaves a white film on my leaves. I don't think that is a good thing.

if you had white residue on our leaves, you mixed too heavy, remember the old saying, if a little is good, putting more on isn't always the answer.
