Ok iv not germ very many water melons, & never a giant! but never had trouble with anything else! Ok i have had four (4) 174 watermelon seeds in germ box for 5 days now , I got curious & carefully dug them up & nothing ! In same box at same time 5 different sunflowers, also zucchini, & small pumpkin, all did germinate ! but no watermelons ! Whats Wrong ! temp at approx 85* my mix is 1/3 1/3 1/3 perelite vermiculite peatmoss ! Any sugestions please? Thanks Glenn

Bump the temp up to 95 to 98, and don't over water and they should pop within 2 to 3 days.

Good advice Todd, they should come up unless it has been too damp. Too much water will cause watermelon seeds to rot in a few days.You may want to start over if you suspect excess dampness.

Glenn - I had trouble myself with the 174s. I started a bunch this spring and I was about 50/50 on them. It appears there were a few duds or empty ones - the other watermelons sprouted fine for the most part.

Start all the rest of the 174s, you might find a winner, or I can send you some more if you would like.

Thanks guys ! I will try 4 more & bump up temp! & mix starter mix a bit more dry , I will let know in a while ! Thank you !
