I've seen something in one of my plants that has me concerned I culled a couple of melons that were pollinated Monday from the vines today. I went to double check where I took one off, and discovered a drop of brown liquid coming from the cut on the stem where the melon was attached.

It looked similar in color to iced tea. Is that normal? The plant looks healthy, but brown liquid is not a comforting thing to see on its face.

The brown liquid was probably just a product of normal clear sap from the vine that turns dark as it dries on the end of the cut stem. I think it is unlikely you have anything to worry about.
