I've got one on the 255 Mitchell that is growing well about 73lbs day 22. It is quit a bit slower than my 291 and 113. I have a new one set on the 255 that is only about 10 days old that has better 10 day OTT than anything in the patch. Got a better stem too. I would be taking a chance having an older plant in the August heat, but I already have two earlier sets doing better than the first one. Would you cut off one say 100 pounds for a better one at this point?

Go for the gusto; keep the younger and faster growing one. I think that is what I would do Jake.

I did last year. If you dont need the earlier one for a certain date, then go with the best if you have time to finish it.

Thanks guys, I'm pruning the plant to keep it smaller so I'm going with one. The older one is alot closer to the stump too.

Hey Jake, if it makes you feel better, I took your advice and cut the big one on the 285. Was hard to do, but if we are going to go big, you gotta go with the best. The culled one went 102lbs by bathroom scales. So my advice is the same you gave me, go with the best.
