I have a watermelon that is about 10-15 days old. It is around 20 lbs and growing 3-5 lbs a day. Should I be able to get it to 100lbs at this rate? This is my first year growing watermelon so I really do not know what is normal.

I am also trying to decipher what the milestones for various sized melons we might grow are. It seems to me like you are very on track , especially if it is closer to 10 days than 15 and even at 15 you might be there. Have to wait to see what the pro's say though.

In searching the archives, I saw one post where it seemed Chris was saying that 49 pounds at day 17 is a good start towards a big one...and, since it is Chris, I am thinking that means over 200 pounds?

NP, I think you could be on your way to over 200 pounds if you reached 20 pounds by day 10.On the other hand if it's day 15 already then I believe you can expect just well over 100 pounds if you manage to keep your plant healthy.I think it's around day 14 before they begin getting to their maximum daily weight gain.Good luck.

Including the actual day of pollination, as I have been, would be wrong then. If I pollinated this morning tomorrow is 1 DAP? What part of "days after" don't I understand?

OK i have 4 melons pollinated on July first and want to get the 15 day ott on them. I will measure on the 16th ????

MHMM-- that sounds correct since the 1st would be day ZERO (or pollination day) and the second would be day 1 !
