Mr. Bright suggests in his book that seeds from young melons have higher g-rate. Anybody knows how "young" is defined?

Don't know but SMP says seeds are good after 30 days. I did a little experiment with 2 14day old culls this year. One I cut open off the vine was white with undeveloped seeds. I cut the other one yesterday after sitting in my cellar for 17 days, Was red on the inside and had mature looking seeds in it. Cut a seed open and it had an eymbryo. So you may be able to get seed from 14 days on. I would think young would be less than 60 days.
