If you have a 157 X 268. This means these were crossed 157 the mother,268 the father & it produced a 60 pd melon. This was most likely a seed melon,(not grown for competition).

The 157 seeds are 1st generation offspring seeds from the 157 Bright(2004) and the 268 seeds are 1st generation offspring seeds from a 268 Bright X 157 Bright cross made in 2006. Both groups of seeds are from melons planted this year for seed sales. I recommended these to you as I do to other first time growers. The seeds have the genetics to grow good competition size watermelons. I think you are asking for assurance from forum responders that seeds from small immature Carolina Cross melons have the genetics to grow a melon of as large size as could be grown from a older mature Carolina Cross melon that has reached its size potential.
