Being new to melons this year, I am wondering what grows out where every leaf stem meets the vine?
I can see what (I think) is a secondary vine, and tendrils, but I am seeing something else that looks different...any ideas or info is appreciated?

Jeremy, you are seeing the begining of small anchor roots at each leaf axil.If they can root they will form a secondary root system that will maximize the nutrient and water uptake to the plant. A number of growers are using weed block fabric under plants. Most of the time this prevents secondary rooting. Chris grew his WR melon on weedblock fabric however.Best of luck this year.

Jeremy, if it isn't roots you are seeing, I think you may be looking at the false leaf that is wrapped around the blooms before they grow large and bloom. It looks like a small leaf and is smooth edged and curly and never gets very large.
