David Cantrell came with a melon that had the second largest OTT measurement for a North American melon this year @ 210" for a projected weight of 254 pounds. Dave's melon went 18% light. Go figure. That must have been a heart breaker Dave. The Finders lived up to all the hype on their growers diary and shattered their old personal best as did Jake Holloway who missed first place by a fraction over a pound.

Thanks Dennis, They actually posted the wrong weight for Dave's melon his was 238.6. One tenth of a pound more than mine LOL. It was fun only a pound and change between the top three which made it fun. Dave should have been listed second.

Brother Dave, I am sorry. I was just going on the information that was posted on the web site. I am glad a melon as big as yours did not go 18% light. Someone told me it was very close but I didn't remember well what I was told and figured the web site was surely correct.

Third place at Bear wallow was 249.5 and now third place at Yadkin was 238.5. It looks like we are weighing some pretty good melons after having such a tough summer weather wise.

I think Frank and Tina may be challenging for a new state record next year. They are very passionate about their hobby and it is a well deserved win for them. And if you haven't noticed they took first place in the pumpkin contest also. I would also like to congratulate Nathan Okorn for taking 1st place in the long gourd competition.

Frank & Tina, thanks for the great diary photos. They are very clear and subjective and I love the way you told of your Yadkin weigh-off experience through the use of them. Very well done !
