What do you all think is to early or to late? For a weigh off.

For me I think the last week end in Sept. or the 1st week end in Oct. is good.

Hi Marvin, thats what i was kinda of thinking. would like to see a date where you northern growers could come , plus not to late for the southern growers.

Let me ask this, if the weigh off was held say around central ohio. would the northern growers come down? would like to see a weigh off with a good mixture of northern growers, southern growers, indiana, Pa, plus the ohio growers.

Im just kicking around some ideas in my head.
Danny

Danny
Will this weigh off take place in frankfort, or are you hosting a different weigh off? I think if it would be 5-6 hour drive for most of the michigan growers, but I drive 5 hours to kentucky, just to get smoked at the scales!!!

Danny: Just thinking the 3rd week end in Sept would work for the Michigan growers. I drive 5 to 6 hours to my weight off.
If you put 4 guys and 4 melons in one truck no big deal. Or even 2 and 2 in a truck.

I would drive that far just to meet some of the growers.

The big thing is to get the right date, but that can be done.

Last week end of September, I think would work great ! Time to grow and time to go to other weight off's.

Sounds great, I am all in !

Just a heads up guys the Kentucky weighoff at Bear Wallow is usually the 3rd weekend in Sept. and the Yadkin Valley weighoff in Elkin NC is always the 4th Saturday in Sept.

Well, seems like i may have alot of interest in this weigh-off. Looking at what kinda of dates there are. So depending on that, i hope to have more info later.

This is in the begining stages, so bear with me. Lot of things to iron out.Place, time, prize money. I would like this to be just a melon weigh-off. I think there is enough growers out there to support it.

If any one as any ideas or suggestions let me know.

I'm always ready to load one up and hit the road, but it would take a lot to get me to miss KY & NC weigh-offs.

Probably going to have a hard time pleasing everyone, but Sunday would be out for me, for any weighoff over an hour or so away.

Is second Saturday too early? If Sun, 3rd is best for me but set it when you can get the most entries.

Making it an afternoon weigh-off is great. Some of us may not want to come down the night before. I would say make it the third or fourth Sunday.

I think Sunday would work better than trying to have it on a date that growers are going to on a Sat.

I agree with Marvin. I think your attendance will be greater if you do not try to compete with another established weigh-off on a Saturday. Anyway, maybe a few growers who need to work on Saturday may be off on Sunday and thus able to attend.
