After retiring from the Army I have went into full time farming growing 1400 tomato plants and large quantities of other seasonal vegetables. The early crops are beginning to slow down a little so I am back until the fall crops start to come in.

I had to move the melon patch to a new area to accommodate the maters but the results have been positive so far. I have been able to dodge the fungal issues I have had the last few years. I had some issues with rain for the first two weeks of June but got all five plants pollinated the third week of June.

291 Kent: got a very fat four lobe melon that just broke 50in girth today.
274 Kent: Good looking melon that comes in at 47in girth
274? Mudd: My only loss so far, lost it about a week ago, it weighed 84lbs at death.
267 Edwards: another good looking melon at 46in girth it was the last set of the five.
My 228: I kept two melons on this plant until one self aborted at 112lbs last week. The other melon has exploded in growth and comes in at 48.5in girth.

I gave the two lost melons to an elderly woman at the farmers market who is going to pickle the rines, can't wait to try them.

Best of luck to all!!!
