Have a couple of questions for the veterans.
My 251 Kent is growing rapidly,with about 55 linear feet of vine growth.
(I counted all finger and main vine growth as well as the vines growing off them).
I culled a female about an inch long yesterday.
Found another about 6 this morning that I believe will open tommorow.
I covered it as well as a male that I believe will open tommorow.
I thought I would try and set it and if need be,cull it in a couple of days.
More of a practice kind of thought process.
If it does set, my questions are:
Is it to soon?
And also,
I'm due to spray fungicide on Tuesday.
Will it effect the flowers and fruit?

Skim milk makes a great fungicide and I am nearly certain it would not affect your flowers or fruit. You might give it a try in this case if you want to be most sure. But the bottom line is it is still very early and you might want to wait a few more days. I am hoping to set a fruit this year at the beginning of a good period of hot weather. Remember, the first two weeks will largely determine the potential of your fruit.

So you think even setting it in a practice kind of way is not a good idea?

Maybe no harm to practice if you don't let it go very far.

The thing is, it shouldn't take you long at all now to have the size vine you need to set a keeper fruit. Trust me, it is still plenty early. :-)

You're right Dennis.
The plant in question is probably half of the 15 x 20 it's allotted to.
At any rate, I culled the one in question and have since pollinated another
That is much larger.
This one is about 1 3/8 inch in length and fat.
Looks a little pear shaped with the stem end being fatter.
This one is much larger in diameter as well.
