Best of luck with your melon. It looks like your well on your way to a state record. I have been watching this unfold all season, especially with this warm summer, I was expecting someone to grow a nice one.

This was the summer to grow melons,at least in PA, and I did not grow any, lol !

Your plant looks great, keep up the great work!

Thanks Lee, I just saw this! I neglected to shade it and it seems to have matured and stopped growing now. Hoping it will last 3 more weeks on the plant

Nice looking melon.
You sure it's quit growing ?
I had one that only averaged a 1/4 inch a day for 2 weeks last year.
I almost pulled it several times.
If it has , I would shade it and maintain the plant as normal.
Check it often, but i think it would be in better shape on the vine as long as
possible.

Alex, if my melon grows 10lbs per day for the next 16 days you're in trouble! lol

Here is the check list I use LOL
1. the melon is less than 165 days old
2. No coons nesting inside
3. the melon has not completely turn yellow
4. the plant has at least one leaf left
5 the stem and vine are not rotten between the melon and
at least 1 node root
Then its not time to pick it LOL
