Kilr, nice article on the long gourds. I just sent some seed to Bill ( Hoss) Cartwright & he was asking me advice. I told him I haven't grown them before either but you now have solved the problem........ Great Job........Paul

I grew the long gourd for the first time ever last year just to see what it was. I fixed up the soil just the way you would an atlantic giant and watered it well. The vine grew like crazy, over a small tree I got it started up.The vines were so thick it looked like a small cave underneath them. Got real heavy too. Had 2 ropes and 3 2x4s holding the tree up.Ended up with gourds of 80.3, 90.4 and 95.5 inches long. I also had to dig holes up to 2ft. deep to try and keep them from hitting the ground.

Pappy,
A marrow and a long gourd are entirely different. Marrows seem to be popular across the pond. Maybe Alun can hook us up with some pictures or a description. I'm having trouble describing a marrow. kilr
