I am looking for long gourd seeds from 2005. I tried growing long gourds last year and didn't get one female to pollinate. One of the problems was that I let my vine grow up an old tree and couldn't reach most of the opening blossoms with a ladder. Thanks John

Got plenty available here and glad to share with all. Had a bumper crop of LG's this season from the Wallis 114". Only managed 68" on the best, but that's grower error, not the seed...LOL. Drop me a bubbler.

Seems, to me, something else other than hand pollination issues. It was my second year, on the apple tree. I had a 98" success and a 93" second one followed and preceeded by many. The nightime insects did the pollination.

I counsel with two other apple tree growers. Last year I got them started to late. I got nothing decent. This year I tented them with a cold frame and worked with my organic honey hole, from which they grew. The net production was none less than eight, to a dozen gourds. The canopy covered the entire tree from one single vine. Like you John there was no way I would even consider hand pollination. At my age it would be foolish indeed. The insects did it all but had help, from the Humming Birds who loved the nectar.

Pictures are in my diary. If you are interested....yes I have seeds and will share. Agreed....older seed are more difficult to germinate.

Thanks Doc. I will send you an email to get your addy and send you a bubble. I planted last year about a week after my AG's on account of germinating issues of the long gourds. I am going to be better prepared next year. Thanks again.
