I am in, we are planting a Dawson 95" and a Bell 99.5" along with 4 Pumpkins and 4 watermelon. I am going to post pictures in a diary with my set up that I made last year for a tellis. We are on the tour this year (Oct 30th) so I am going to do my best trying gourds also.

Both Al Eaton and Geneva Emmons had gourds over 120" (122 A.E.; 121 G. E.) in 2005 but I understand they had some forms of splits and are not recognized as official. I wonder why a LG that has a split shouldn't be official but I'm not the person who makes the rules...

I agree with Martin...Splits are common in long gourds. Know a break is a different story. Unlike pumpkins its a length not weight issue.

Guys:
I am in no way an expert on Long Gourds, I have grown them for two years. In terms of why not measure split long Gourds I think we need only to look at the two growers who dis-qualified their Long Gourds,Al Eaton and Geneva Emmons. The term that comes to mind is integrity.
Al and Geneva have set a very good example of character, I hope the rest of us can measure up.
Just my opinion:

The Secret long Gourd Society.
Darned if I know, a friend Doug Adams had to tell me about the picture.
I am not a member, I suspect that the Society is based in New York along with all the other Secret Societies, LOL.

Ahhh Who would want to be in that Society any how..They probably sit around drink beer and compare the size of their gourds. Be like living your teenager years all over again.
