I have an open pollinated LG, about 60 inches or so right now. I was wondering what else, besides itself, could have pollinated it.

Owen..any or all the night time insects. I see open males and females late evening and still in the early AM so add those daytime critters that get a late or early start.

Doc, Owen meant what neighboring plants could have pollinated LG.

Owen.........sorry I misread your question. It would have to be another plant in the same family within a mile. My guess you have an open but selfed by the befor mentioned insects. At this point in time I would bet most if not all are open/selfed. My hat is off to anyone who protects the female and the male for absolute selfing or other cross. Could be wrong but that is asking a lot.

I believe birdhouse gourds are the same species... but don't quite remember. Do some searching online for their scientific names.

Birdhouse, Bushel, ornamental, Snake, etc... Same species and can cross...
There is documentation of cross pollenation with most other Cucurbita species as well.
