That link is great. Chris & John have been at this a long time. I started with the variety development back in the mid-'80's. Never thought it would catch on in the early years but very glad to see it has.
One comment on the stats: Pete Waterman 110 5/8 in 1994 (World Record) Variety: "Collins Long" Gourd

How long must a gourd be until it's considered 'giant'? Have some snake gourds near/past 5-6' right now...

Six feet is the bottom end of the giants, in my opinion. Growing one like that is not by accident. This might depend on geography and growing seasons. I feel they like the heat. Southern growers may be the winners in due time.
I got whooped good, by a good 'ole Southern Boy, at the Pennsylvania's Altoona Weigh Off last year. 106" is our State Record.
