I've had my long gourds in the ground for about month now and they still have only about 3 leaves and haven't done a thing. This is my first time for growing these things. Is this normal? Are they slow starters or do they like the heat, or have I done something wrong. The AG's and the rest of the regular pumpkins and decorative gourds are doing fine.

Brian,
They should start vining any day now. Once they start, you won't believe how much growth you'll have, and then the gourds almost "appear" overnight!

Started mine the same time as my pumpkins....somewhere around the first of May. Looking back in my diary around the beginning of June it hadn't even started vining. Two weeks later the vine is to the top of a ten foot trellis.

Okay so they finally started to vine. How do I prune these things?
