Yes the seeds are good..Cracks seem to be common with long gourds, when they have matured. I have not seen anything that says a long gourd can not have cracks in it. It can not have any breaks.

LG's seem to crack when they've been left on the vine too long. They only grow for 30-40 days and stop, but then the cracking starts. The seeds should be fine (good luck harvesting them...LOL) but fruit should be w/o splits for competition in my opinion. Best of luck.

For AGs there cannot be a split into the cavity. I assumed that this was to prevent the possibility for weight being added inside of the pumpkin. With LGs, weight is not factored in. So does it matter whether there is a crack??? I will be trying some LGs next year, so I am not sure.

Splits shouldn't matter in a length contest....how long a split is a split?...lol

...If we maintain the premiss of a sound healthy fruit, just like with pumpkins, then we will never be faced with deciding whether some 1/2 rotted mangled stretched and otherwise manipulated specimen should be considered eligible

...fat fingers somehow ended that last post before I was done...LOL! I've noted some superficial skin cracks happening on older fruit and they ooze a little and stop just like AG's...but then's there's the wholesale 1/4" gap opening fissure almost the entire length of the fruit that spells a pretty quick demise! G's just partial to LG's because they're GREEN! LOL!
