Pumpkins are great and a lot of fun. Long gourds will continue to gain acceptance.

Long gourds grow upright and require a trellis and not a
lot of ground.

Congratulations to the World Record holder Joe Jutras
with a long gourd of 126.5 inches.

I wish all the atendees at Niagara all the best:

Hi Bob Thanks
I hope to encourage some new growers to try long gourd this season. I'm going to bring some pictures of the 126.5 and hopefully spark some intrest. I have had many request for seeds and I'm running low. Maybe some L G growers can bring some seeds to the seminar this weekend to pass out.
Thanks Joe Jutras

I have thought about growing these gourds. But I have no idea on what kind of set up you need. You must need some kind of wooden frame that is high in the air. Plus I live on a hill that is windy and would need to control this as well.

Check out our website at www.gvgo.ca There's a great article about LG written by John & Chris Lyons. It might help you out. There's also the all-time LG list posted there. A special thanks goes out to Bob Attaway for putting it together. Good luck.

Hey Joe, I really enjoyed spending time with you, Steve & your wives. I have some pictures, if I remember to bring them. We look forward to seeing you. Take care.

Joe was presented with the New LG trophy & plaque in Niagara Falls this weekend. I had the pleasure of awarding this to Joe on behalf of the Long Growers of the World. He'll keep the plaque & bring back the trophy for next year's Champion LG grower. I'd like to thank Bob Attaway & Wayne Kennedy for all their work on putting this award together. From what I'm hearing it sounds like Long Gourds will be gaining a lot of popularity with the growers this year. Good luck to all those trying them for the 1st time & don't forget to visit the GVGO Website (www.gvgo.ca) for growing tips & instructions by John & Chris Lyons.

Thanks to Joe for his generous Long Gourd seed package contribution to our CTGS&PGA seed auction. This was the first auction we know of where Long Gourds were sold at auction.

Thank you very much, Bob and Wayne for the nice Long Gourd plaque and champion cup. It was a nice suprise to be awarded this honor. I'm sure it's going to become much more popular growing long gourds this year. There were a lot of growers interested in growing them. I wish them all the best this 2007 season.
