Long gourds. Wish I had some. This year, all I got was vines. Not a gourd on all of the vines. What a disappointment. Frank of Iowa

I was a first year LG grower, and I found that no fruit would set unless I did it myself. The flowers are open and active in the late afternoon, so I guess the bees are taking a siesta at that time.

Long gourd pollination seems to be geography / availability of bees dependent. In his article on growing the 126.50 World champ Joe Jutras hand pollinated his females at night using a miners head light. The growers in Canada have to hand pollinate theirs because of no bees at night.I have the opposite problem, my females get pollinated quickly by knat looking creatures and I have to cover my females in order to make a cross, I live in Georgia.
