How's everyone doing? Not gonna get a PB here unless a late setting Jutras 126" gets some legs here...LOL! Just a fun post...got an approximate 115" off the 106 Lovelace due to be harvested...been the same for 3 days so I guess she's done...but 90* temps expected tomorrow, watered and tertilized heavy tonite hoping for one last push...LOL!

I have a couple over my pb of 110.75 that are still slowly gaining. Both are about 37 days old so not much growing left in em. They are 111 .75 and 112.75 today

Not here with all of the erly rains. We were left with just one plant out of 5 that were set out. Maybe if the weather warms up we have one that MIGHT beat pur best. Problem is we are now getting hit with the remnants of Gustav.

Finally got first LG pollinated 8/20 here. Not even sure I can get it to mature for seeds. But weather has helped a bit and we may atleast get it long enough to get to a weigh off.

My 2nd year growing long gourds, last year was 82 inches and I only got one set on this plant but it is picked and around 105 inches. With the plant being sick and losing leaves from early on I am happy with 105.

Duff:

With my disease problems the 2 seeds that produced were
the 106.50 Lovelace and the 118.50 Eaton.

No personal best here but I plan to kick fanny in 2009.
I will spen this winter treating my soil.

Nothing over 100 inches, all of my LG's will be UOLin 2008.

I am looking forward to the weigh offs to see who has sandbagged the best, LOL.

Best of Luck to all:

This is our 1st year growing them. A slow start & cool summer temps kept the plants small & never reached the top of our trellis until late July. Our 1st pollination was on Aug 7th. It is currently over 90", with about 10 days left before it matures. It's still growing @ 2-3" per day. With a lot of luck we might get it to 110". Not bad for our 1st season. Watch out next year though. LOL. Good luck all.

Ryan and I are doing very well this year, with our longest currently close to 122" (current Canadian record 121.5"). Hopefully it will hold to a GPC event. We harvested one last night in the 110" area (Officially measured tonight). and we have several others over 100".

No PBs here but I will go go to 1-2 competitions with the best I have.My LG growth has been the worst for a few years and I blame it on the cooler weather.

With this recent heat wave thiugh I find I am getting a little growth right up to day 38.

Now looking forward to a fresh start next year.

Ditto G...go John go! I think Personal Best performances are what bring us back each season to try and do better...it's just a bonus if you catch a Top Three finish at your weigh-off or local fair! Best of luck to all!

We're rooting for you here John! Sounds like you are having a good season.

Neither of my LGs had females, so no gourds at all this year. Going to move the entire trellis to a better location and hope for the best next year.

Thanks for the support guys. Turns out that I was wrong about the Canadian Record. Ron Wallis, 123 3/4" in 2006. Oh well, the thing is still really long and I Ryan and I are really happy. We just need it to grow a little more and then get it to a GPC event. Where will it show up?....hmmm

Hi John:

The recognized Canadian Long Gourd record is the 122 Eaton.
The 123.75 Wallis was UOl and ineligible for the record.

I look forward to adding your prize to the LG website,
Your accomplishment deserves recognition whether it winds
up the Canadian record or not.
