For several years we have had discussions on shelf life of LG seeds. My personal experience has been that 4 to 5 years was about max. From my recent experience that opinion was incorrect.
I decided to direct seed everything this year due to unpredictable weather and curiosity. Of the 8 different seeds I have planted to date the 88.5 Eaton 2003 was the 2nd fastest germinator which really surprised me.
I am curious about other growers experiences?

Bob, so far I planted 2-124 Eaton, 3-104 Eaton and 6-122 eaton seeds. The first 4 122 seeds all sprouted in five days. I planted 2 more and they also came up in five days. All were treated equally and so far I am unable to get any of the other seeds to germ. Go figure.

As to your 88.5s, tried to germinate 3, 2 came up looking very healthy, and are doing fine.

It took them 4 and 1/2 days to sprout.

I'm hi-jacking your post Bob...as if germination wasn't tough enough already...how many of you have babysat seeds for two weeks and finally seen a successful germination only to decapitate it while helping the young seedling to shed its seed coat? I've got an easy 1/2 dozen prime seedlings with the gnarliest looking cots from my heavy handedness. It's all part of the fun :-)

I broke a 126 Jutras off trying to get the seed coat off. Heck I had a hard time getting it to come loose after it broke.

Anyone who has not done that soon will.
Next time I want a seed cover removed I am taking it to a brain surgeon for removal, LOL.

Just checked three seeds ( 101.75 Timm 07- 107.5 Timm 05 x sibb ) that were hurriedly placed in wet paper towel Monday morning after an overnight soak and germing at @92degrees, one has sprouted. Three days is a new record for me. I'm out of Eaton seeds except 122's and I have 6 122 plants growing now. I will definitely try this method next year.
