My LG plants are behind other years due mainly to below average temps, but as of July 21 they ranged from 9 to 15 feet.

The 15 footer,a "109 Eaton 05",seed started May 14 is the leader.It grew July 11-21, 121" to 181" or a tidy 6"/day for 10 days.

In other words averaging one inch each 4 hours.LGs are awesome.

Other years, with warmer weather they would average about 7"/day.

Anyone else, anywhere, have growth rates to compare? I think hotter areas must have great growth.

I am usually fully across my trellis at this time of year, but still have another 6 feet or so to go. Green pumpkin growth has been slow as well for me. I need to pollinate LG by first week of August up here in Vermont to get a long one. Our nights start getting real cold late August to early September.

We have had cooler weather this year than the last 3 but my plants are about the same as yours Al. I'm not sure what the growth rates are but I'm behind what I usually have this time of year. I lost my 1st set of plants due to 6" of rain but the replacements have done well. My best plants at this point are the 107 Lyons and 121.25 Duffy.

I would say I am in the same range @ 15 feet for both plants started May 10. 122 Eaton. Trouble free plants that should have been put outside earlier.

I have had open male blossoms for a few days but it will be awhile before I can pollinate any females. The first 10 days of August seem to work well here for that.

We have had cooler weather then normal here also, but oddly my LG's have been loving it. My trellis is not that big, it is only about 8.5ft tall and 8ft deep. The plants topped the trellis weeks ago and covered the top and are overflowing down the sides now. I have 2 decent ones on right now growing about 5 inches a day @ about 50 inches and 45inches as of today, Looks like I'll be digging some holes.....

123 Michaud @ approx 14' and 106 Lovelace @ 12' both started 5/4. 110,115,and 121 Duffy 8-10' with a 5/15 start date. The few back-to-back sunny days we recently enjoyed really made a difference in growth rate. Have culled a few females short of the 10'mark, not many.

I transplanted second week of May, main vine is 25 feet long. Weather here has been slightly cooler and wetter on average but ideal conditions in my opinion.
