My gourd plants are on a trellis that is not high enough of the ground. How can I keep the gourds growing without them hitting the ground?

We have a grower from our club who has built a ramp at an angle for the gourd to grow along. It does not grow as fast due to the angle of the ramp, but he has had good success with it. I believe he grew an 80 plus inch gourd that started less than 5 feet above the ground. John

Dig a hole directly under the gourd then plan better next year. A ten foot world record was grown this way a couple years ago.

...and if it rains a lot, be sure and pump the water out of the hole! LG's aren't good swimmers! Good luck!

Even though I have a 10 foot trellis, I had one gourd that took my pollination and I wanted to keep it...trouble was, it was resting at the 8 foot mark. Some careful vine snipping and readjustment of the trellis allowed me to push the chosen gourd up an additional foot.
