I have one plant growing with a main vine at 25 feet, and a back main (?) secondary (?) at 20 feet. Should I terminate one or both of these vines or let em go? I have three successful pollinations on the main with about 10 feet of vine after the gourds. I have been snipping the females on the back main, should I continue to pollinate on it?

Once you have a main vine fruit to beach-ball size & its making steady gains I would remove all other fruit and terminate vines if necessary.

I was a little confused at Tremor's reply at first but my post does sound like I'm describing a pumpkin plant! LMAO!

Good question 1320. Seems like LG's can support a couple long ones on one plant...just how many hasn't really been documented anywhere i can find. In the past I've pruned heavily and other seasons just let things go wild. Haven't seen a reason to do it one way or the other yet? Good luck! ...and if you get a beach ball shaped LG, I think I'd cull it...

From what I knkow about growing gourds, terminate the main at about 10 feet, and the gourds grow on secondarys. This is how I grew my birdhouse gourds.

Does the secondary vine throw male and female flowers?
