Netherlands

First one over 100" in Europe already. 104.1" Norbert Andres [Germany].

Another Dutch grower and myself are within 3 days of a new Dutch record if no disaster happens, and that on a 17 day old gourd. Well, it will be 20 days then.

I'll send you the European results and genetics later in the season Bob. You can keep track here:

LG's are gaining popularity in Anamosa. They are alomst addictive ad AG's. For a few years we would have just a few entries. Then last year we had a bunch, and Dick Stivers and Marty Schnicker showed us all how to do it. I learned a hard lesson this year about air circulation and fungus disease problems in a wet year. But I'm not giving up. Next year we will have a new patch and give it all we can.

It has been reported on BigPumpkins that Marty won the long gourd and pumpkin competitions and he and Mary took first and second in the watermelon comeptition at the state fair. I read the results of the fair and found out that Marty and Mary grew even more giants. They took 1st and 2nd in jumbo muskmelon, longest green bean and jumbo onion competitions. Plus he took first in jumbo cabbage and 3rd in jumbo woody stem pumpkin. They must have a big truck to haul all of those giants and the ribbons they won. Great job Marty and Mary.
