Should I let it dry out on the vine or cut it loose and dry it elsewhere? I'm getting a little nervous with the recent winds.....

My advice is, if it has quit growing to cut it off the vine, wash it with a mixture of 20% bleach and 80% water. Then hang or store it in a place with air circulation, but keep it from blowing in the wind.
Just my opinion: Bob Attaway

I use two grade stakes about 2 feet apart with a piece of ripped towel about 2 inches wide tied loosely around the lg and tied to the tops of each grade stake. This holds the lg in place between the grade stakes pretty well and does not inhibit growth. If its still growing I personally wouldn't harvest it. I think you need 40 plus days to get mature seeds as well. John

Just my 2 cents worth...take it off the vine after a few days of non-growth...had them split hanging on the vine too long. Good luck! Duff
