Can someone give me a run down on how to prune LG vines?

I don't know if there is a set way, the more you prune the more they grow. It's just a fun plant to grow !

I read on a store bought packet, That fruit only grew on the side vines? Remembering this I try achieving a mainvine trellised about 6,7,or 8' before allowing sidevines to take over. I cant swear this as fact, and Ive not set any records, but I enjoy growing all types of gourds.
