my LG have first true leaf and are in 1 gallon pots. I dont have protection set up for them. They are in one of my pumpkin cold frames. Can they go out yet, should I grow them on in pots for a bit? let them start to climb a stake in pot?????

A one gallon pot is plenty big at this stage. If you don't have protection set up I would keep doing what you are doing for a while. Once it starts to vine and tendrils appear you can help it out as it begins to climb. By June your biggest threat will be wind so getting them secure and/or protected is a good idea. My biggest is at 4 leaf stage in a one gal. pot. Transplant date is @ June 1st or earlier if the forecast is calling for warm weather.

Hi Pete , I am putting mine in today 5/14/11 it sounds like there about the same size as yours, I'm just draping a sheet of plastic over some small pieces of pvc to protect them until they take off. I did this last year and had no problems.

Thanks Andy and Gene, I think with the week of cloudy rainy weather forcasted, i'll leave them right where they are at. They are in good company in my 1332 Wolf's house, along with a couple of Kent mellons for now!!! Pete
