The Larry Checkon Trellis is a great conversation piece.

Bob, thanks for the link to the photos, and it's obvious why Larry's trellis is talked about...but not sure what is goin on??? Is he growin long gourds in a tree? W/ AG plant growin there also? Peace, Wayne
If so, I have perfect place to grow LG's...might just try it next year!!! LOL

That is an LG growing up the tree.

I forget the length but I think his LG that year at Altoona was around 100 inches.

Well I have a new twist this year Bob. I'm growing this year on a "hybrid" trellis, part man-made and part tree. The man-made part is a standard trellis, 12 1/2 ft. high by 8 ft. wide. and the top section is 8 x 10 and is attached to an apple tree. I'll send a photo this evening. My best "tree" gourd to date was 116.5". I had to stand on the top rung of a 24' extension ladder to harvest the thing.
