I am growing lg's for the first time this year.My plants are doing great and my trellis is 12' high. When the time comes and my gourds start to grow and hang down what is the best way to support the wieght of the gourd. Thanks Grumpy

A straight pull is ideal, the vine and stem can handle the weight. Unfortunately straight pulls are not the norm so you may need to cushion the stem so it doesn't bend or kink too much. They are tougher than they look.

If ya get a good one going you might want to drive stakes on either side of the fruit and use some stretchy material like jersey to shore it up and keep it from swaying. Adjust the ties regularly to keep fruit from getting girdled. Good luck!
