After reading your post, I'm feeling much better about harvesting my 100+ inch LG (still growing) just before similiar weather set in. It was a tough decision but I didn't want to risk losing a personal best. Do you have any photos that you can share?

Jury "seems" to be out on what constitutes a measureable LG at competition? Lengthwise splits are acceptable currently if I understand correctly. Seen soured LG tips accepted as ok too! It's still wide open to interpretation it seems so don't throw the towel in yet...unless your 100"er is 50"'er now...LOL! Duff

According to Guinness and international rules, all giant vegetables have to be sound, that is without rotten parts. Dry cracks on the other hand are acceptable on some giant vegetables such as parsnips, beetroot, carrots. As a jury member I would disqualify an LG if it had rotten parts or leaking cracks, but would qualify an LG with a dried up split, which is quite common on LGs.

Duff: you bring up an interesting point about soured (rotting) tips. My observation seems diferent sites treat this condition differently. I agree with Dutch Brad on condition of fruit.

Hello Tallcorn--the 100.5 you had at Port Elgin last year is on the LG site but not the "parentage".
Since it looks like we will be hearing from your 110.5 this year---can you show its parentage please??
Thanks in advance--AE

OK, my 100.5 - is the 110 Harnica X 129 Harnica This year I grew the 100.5 and crossed it with my 79" The 79 came from the 129 Harnica crossed with the 134.25 Johnston/Butler I also self it. Not sure If I will have seeds as the gourds are only 31 days old.
As of today I have lost three gourds, with three left on the plant, two crossed with the 79 and one selfed. All three over 100". Oh yes, I also have two on the ground, I would think they also are selfed.
Mr. Eaton, I would like to talk with you about long gourds. Would you e/mail me ? DBfireworks at charter dot net
