No fast way to dry gourds of any type that I know of!!! Takes a long time (9 months or so)!!! Some leave em on the ground till spring, then hang em in airy place, some pick em in fawl, after foliage is brown, then hang em!!! Air flow helps, but only to keep mildew/rotting to a minimum!!! It just takes a long time to dry a gourd to full tan hardness!!! Gourds are now ornamental, but were originally grown as utencils!!! dipper gourds were used to dip water, and drink from!!! My grampa had one!!! Bushel gourds were used to carry produce from the garden!!!! I grow apple gourds, and have em painted by the airbrush artists at the mall, & try & sell em!!!! It just takes a LONG time for em to dry!!! Peace, Wayne

I dried one of my long gourd from last year. It measures 100". I placed it on the floor at home during 6 months. Now, it's perfectly dry and weigh about 1lb. I tried to dry em in vertical position, but they rot quickly because I think the whole water goes down in the fruit end.
