I second the question. Also, i'm curious about many lg seeds seeming immature(white and light weight). Were those fruit picked as soon as the gourd quit growing or is it genetic trait

For the past 5 years I have always harvested my long gourds between day 40 and 42 and usually take seeds out of them 3-4 weeks later. In these years I have had seeds that were viable but were both whitish and softer from some lgs and darker and harder from others. Which seem to be similar with giant pumpkins. I have germinated and attemted to germinate many long gourd seeds as well and it seems that some lgs are easier to germ although they all have the same appearance. Maybe other growers can chime in. I have never let my long gourds dry before seed extraction and have had many that were fine after I dried them again silmilar to pumpkins. John

Ditto John, if not a competition LG, I harvest seeds the day she is cut from the trellis, between days 35 and 45.

Hi Guys:
Good question, I can only speak for myself. My experience is that after cuting an LG from the trellis I let it sit for about 2-3 weeks before removing seeds.
Just my opinion: Bob Attaway
