I was wondering how susceptible long gourds are to downy? I have had other gourds do well in the past without treatment but with this years late start I would hate to get a bad disease in my "prime time" on the other hand I would like to keep things to a minimum if I could. Downy is just reported in my neck of the woods, how should I handle this? Thanks.

I always spray the plants like I do for pumpkins, with the nights getting shorter and the dew getting heavier it will start to show up.

My long gourds in NC got diseased this year and attacked by squash beetles and cucumber bugs.
Totally destroyed my pie pumpkin plants but my long gourds are holding on and still growing.

I had to replant in june because voles ate my first two LG stumps but I got 7" in just over 24 hours yesterday on the new plants...up to 55". I have been working to keep fungus at bay.
