I have some lattice left over from building a deck skirt.Would this be good to use.I see a lot of folks using fence wire instead. When should I put plants in the ground?

just make sure you can get your hands up there to pollinate the thing with eazzz,,,,i think cattle fence is ideal , thats what i would have used if i could get some,, for the top at least

I prefer coated wire fencing. I use a pair of snips to cut wire if lg is not positioned correctly and has a large bend in it. This gives me the freedom to choose based upon how the baby is growing without worrying if it has a place to hang freely.

If I build one 12 feet tall 4 feet wide & 6 feet across the Top ,will this support 2 plants??Should I plant 1 plant on each side??Then each plant would get 4X12 growing area ,not counting the Top.The 2 plants would share the top of trellis.Does this make sense??

My trellis is 24'x 8'x 12' high, the 24' goes east west and I am growing 3 plants on the south side. So each plant gets 8'x 12'x 8' on the top. Do not underestimate this plant, It can fill that space easily. I use coated wire fence as well, 2" x 3" openings, and have had to cut to reach up and reposition gourds.

i have a big trellis see it on long gourd growers site.. Garry Gantner .. very easy to build and pretty cheap i have sent out plans on it with a list of goods needed to build ... i think its 17 ft tall 6x6 top pad and like 14 or 15 ft wide.. its pretty impresive... if i was to do again i would make it BIGGER only room for 2 plants.. bigger is better...
