As the temps dipped into the 30’s last night and I checked out my gourds this morning and noticed my longest ones had split open. I have and others that have brown tips, several where the brown tips have fallen off and several with a wrinkled tip. Can any of these entered in a GPC weigh-off?

LG splits don't affect length...can't say for sure about the rules regarding splits though. I feel ya, I have one over 110" that split Monday night (cool temps).

The gpc rules state a long gourd can be cracked, but to what extent? I have seen a few "witches" nose long gourds get officially measured that were turning black. I have never seen a wide open split at a weigh-off but I really don't think the split would make it longer. It would be nice for us growers and weigh off organizers to have a better idea of what is acceptable.
