Long gourds don't benefit as much as ag's do by pruning down to just 1 fruit. Also it is impossible to tell which one will be the best early on.

...I left 6 on one plant one season...they all stopped at 6ft...still wondering what might have been had I cut back to one or two? LOL!

We grew 3 gourds on the same plant this year, and the last pollinated ended up being our longest...even though I did not think it had enough time to grow and mature...but it did.
116", 117.75" and the final one pollinated late in the season ended up being 119.25".

Been growing LG's quite awhile, I set many and cull down to 2 or 3 and spread pollinating times out by at least 3 or 4 days. Almost always the 2nd or 3rd gourd has ended up the longest for me. Even the year of my 129 and 125 the 129 was the second gourd. Hope this helps.
