I have never grown lg before and have my first one ready to harvest. It has quit growing. What should I attach it to the board with? I can store it in my basement. Should I leave it on the board or untie it? I don't want it to rot. Yet another question, If one is still growing slightly can it be harvested...will it keep? Thank You

When I harvest mine I duct tape them to a board before cutting the vine. It is a 2 person job so you don't drop it. This is the first time I have harvested more than just a few days ahead of the weigh off. I am keeping them taped to the board and wiping down with bleach water every week. If I see signs of mold around the tape I will cut the tape and clean with bleach. My best gourd last year was still slightly growing when harvested the day of the weigh off. I just left it outside after that and opened it up for seeds a month later. The seeds all looked good, but none germinated.
