Hey guys, I'm lookin' for ideas for how to grow long gourds next year. What has worked for you guys for them to grow on? Trellises, chicken wire, different types of supports, etc. If y'all could send me pics of whatever you grew them on, with dimensions, it would be well appreciated!
Thanks, Flamingo Lady

Brigitte,
I personally think they should be at least 12-15' high. Bury 3-4 feet of a 16- 20 foot long 4x4, or whatever hefty lumber you have. You can the screw 2'X 8'pre-made trellis to it. (The P.V.C. trellis will last many years!)

This is one of a few pics of my 4 x 4's sticking out of the ground Brig. These are 12 ft high, and when the plant gets to the top, I let it run onto the hedge row. I connect the two with rabbit fencing I had laying around, but any type of material (strong, because these vines are very heavy after complete growth) to let them run on is suffice. Good luck.. There are a few more pics in my diary of the two poles, I think even one of the long gourd plant growing on it... check mid august or so.
