Attention all would-be giant tomato growers. An online giant tomato contest will be held this year. This is in response to growers who want to compete in North America and who may not have a local contest and who do not want to necessarily be limited by a specific date for weighing their tomato. Tomatoes may be weighed at any time during the growing season up to and including the GPC Weigh-Off which will be held on October 7 this year. There will be 3 winning tomatoes. All entry weights must be in by June 1, 2006. There will be an entry fee of $10 which will go into a pool. Plaques will be awarded to the three heaviest tomatoes. Of the money remaining in the pool after purchasing the plaques, 50% will go to the 1st Place Tomato, 30% to the 2nd Place Tomato and 20% to the 3rd Place Tomato. In the case of a tie the lower prize will be moved up, added to the tied level and the sum split evenly between the contestants involved. In case of a last place tie money will be split evenly by the winning contestants.
All tomatoes must be weighed at local contests using certified scales or by a farm agent on a certified scale such as at a local grocery store.

In order to officially win, the growers of the top three tomatoes must submit a letter from the individual in charge of the local contest they entered or from the official weighing the tomato vouching that the scale was certified, the tomato was healthy and not tampered with and that the weight is correct. The grower must also submit a letter stating that he/she grew the tomato, that it was healthy and that the weight is correct. Also a picture of the tomato must be submitted along with the measurements of the tomato circumference. This applies only to the winners. Tomatoes weights must be reported in pounds and ounces. In case of a tie, the monetary award will be split between the winners.
Several individuals selected as judges will determine if the documentation of the tomato is acceptable. Any variety of tomato can be used to grow your tomato. For further information please E-mail me privately, "lubadub@aol.com"

Near the middle of the first post you say "All entry weights must be in by June 1, 2006". I assume you mean that you must get in your 10$ registration by then? It would be impossible to grow a champ outdoors by June 1, right? I MIGHT be in. AleX Noel.
