John Lyons has won the Online Tomato Contest. He grew a 5 pound 2.75 ounce tomato. It came from Big Zac with seed from Totally Tomatoes. It was 24.5 inches in circumference. It was weighed on September 11 on a certified scale at the Grafton Co-Op in Grafton, Ontario with several witnesses. The scale was certified. This was one big tomato and much bigger than anyone else in the contest grew this year. Congratulations to John Lyons. Turns out, it was not even close but there is always next year. Congratulations to John. He has been successfully growing giant tomatoes for a long while. Big Zac seeds are available to anyone wanting to take a shot at growing a big tomato. You can order them from Totally Tomatoes via their online catalog. They have lots of seeds available for next year and are the only source. Giant tomato growing will give you something to do when you are not spraying, burying vines or pruning your pumpkins. We may have another online tomato contest next year and John Lyons will be the grower to beat. Marv
