Okay, here is a dumb question....
Is the time until the plant sets fruit dependent on the days from seed germination date or a certain amount of days at a certain temp or.... Wondering if I start an early variety "early" whether it will actually produce much earlier.
I think with pumpkins we set them out early to get a bigger plant before they set fruit which seems to be in late June or early July regardless of when the seed germinated. So it seemed that it was more weather than timing, however I may have completely missed this point as well.
Thanks

They figure time from transplant...which I think is stupid. Because if the temperatures are not warm enough than you extend your time... Want to speed things up Wall-o-waters...

So not just "days" but days at the correct temp. What is everyone's favorite "early" tomatoe? Early Girl? Want to get some early mid and late for best taste and eating (rather than size).

Taste....well stay away from them hybrid look like a perfect tomato, resistant to whatever tomato. For taste you want to go for a Red Brandywine, Pink Caspian, or Cherokee Purple. If you have to go with a hybrid go with a Burpee Brandy Boy.

If you want an awesome early heirloom grow Gregori's Altai. Monster plants, big production of 8-12 oz pink beefsteak shaped, tasty maters.
For pure taste I agree with Shannon and add Brandywine Sudduth Strain.
