Its not a cherokee purple is it? I have seen some purple blotches on the leaves of plants that were seedling, adults and so on that did not seem to harm the plant and may have just been a result of what makes purple fruit.

Well, the seedling in the photo is a roma started from a seed I saved from a tomato I bought at my local farmer's market...the fruit was completely healthy looking, no spots or blemishes or anything, thats why I saved seed from it. The thing is though, I went back and took a good look at all my tomato seedlings and a few others are showing what looks like the beginning of the same thing, the others having been store bought seed.

How warm is the soil? Only time I have seen purple is when the soil is to cold. A little shot of epsom salts normally greens them up.

The soil, a Jiffy seed starting mix, is about 70 degrees fahrenheit give or take a few degrees. Is that too cold? Would fish emulsion work if diluted enough? Thanks for the suggestions!

I have seen that in Peppers in the cold as well. Usually on the stem though when the plants harden off.
