Just a heads up.

A friends experience with Reimer seeds after purchasing Big Zac seeds that did not germinate. You will find many other complaints on the web about this company:

Totally Tomatoes has exclusive rights to this variety, if they are being sold anywhere else, they are either buying them from Totally Tomatoes and reselling them, or they are fakes.

Is the same true for their "Delicious" seeds? I couldn't get any bigger than cherry tomatoes.

In my Opinion.
Your going to have better results using seeds from Big Zac F2', etc. that have been grown by competition growers than you are from the average pack of seeds you would buy from a large vendor.
I believe you can grow a larger than average tomato from these mass produced seeds, but the chances are more slim than if you were using a competetive seed from a known producer of large fruit.
If Giant tomato seeds were tracked as AG seeds currently are you, would see similar results with seeds like the 3.9 Catapano and the 5.58 Timm being compared to the 1068 and 1385's of tomato seeds.

Dutch Brad,
I bought all of my Delicious seeds locally and they have all produce on average, fruit between one and three pounds.

I agree with you on the F2 and even F3 seeds Duane. The 4.59 Lyons has also done very well. It's the 998 Pukos of pumpkins... Grew a 5lber for a first year grower here in Europe and several other pretty big ones.

Brad, no single company has exclusive rights to "delicious" seeds, bought some from a few reputable sites. Many other sites are selling Big Zac or Big Zac hybrid seeds including Hollands which we know is a reputable site. Guess I'll have to wait until planting time to see if I got what I paid for.

Two years ago I bought Delicious from Hazzard Seeds, they sprouted well but good grief they are a very late season tomato. We also had a hard year for anything tomato but... at the time of the weighoff (mid Sept) most were just getting sets on the Delicious. I agree, pedigreed hand select hand pollinated competition seed is the way to go :)
